Product Development and Design For Manufacturing
Silcotech offers product design and development assistance through our partner, ISMI Vision Inc. We also offer DFM analysis on individual molded components, including mold filling simulations. This service allows for faster iteration in the design stage before incurring costs for tooling and processing work.
Prototyping (105 Class tooling)
Quick-iteration soft tooling is designed and built by Silcotech to demonstrate production processes during product development. This facilitates the creation of cast or injection molded samples of a new product for initial form and function testing. Silcotech’s expertise in starting large projects with single-cavity unit tooling and molding operations ensures meaningful iterating prior to investment in production tooling and systems. 105 Class tooling is guaranteed for 1,000 cycles.
Bridge Production (103 Class tooling)
For lead time and cost considerations, many times a low-cavitation prehard steel mold can provide high-quality parts in low-to-medium production volumes prior to the jump to high-output mass production. The 103 Class molds are guaranteed for 100,000 cycles and can be built in one-, two-, four-, and eight-cavity configurations. Full validations can be performed on this Bridge Tooling so full quality standards can be met.
Mass Production (101 Class tooling)
When a silicone or plastic product is ready for market launch in high volumes, high cavitation fully hardened 101 Class tooling is essential. Silcotech designs tooling using decades of experience to provide long-lasting, fast-cycling, multi-cavity molds. Automated molding cells require high-speed robotic parts removal, which is always included in Silcotech’s system design of customized sets of automation and tooling for every project. 101 Class molds are guaranteed for 1 million cycles.
Process and Tooling Qualifications and Validations
Silcotech employs the IQ, OQ, PQ and PPAP validation protocols that qualify installation, operation, and the production process. The reports provided assure adherence to quality standards and establish process windows that produce reliably high-quality molded components.
