This summer the Silcotech team came together for their Annual Barbecue, a new yearly tradition that brought together all of Silcotech’s employees for burgers and traditional Indian street food known as Panipuri or Golgappa and Bhalla Papdi Chaat. Halwayi Style brought their famously delightful attitudes and served equally delightful Panipuri and Chaat on the spot.

The Caledon Rotary graciously donated their time and Chuckwagon to grill up the hundreds of burgers, veggie burgers, and chicken burgers. They even dressed as many salads for the hungry Silcotech crowd.

It’s always a great reminder that while we work hard together, we also take time to celebrate, connect, and enjoy each other’s company outside the production floor. Events like these strengthen the bonds that make Silcotech not just a workplace, but a community.

Silcotech, has invested in the future with the purchase of three state-of-the-art Nexus pumps. This strategic acquisition underscores Silcotech’s commitment to innovation, consistent quality, and operational efficiency across its manufacturing operations.

The new Nexus pumps, renowned in the industry for their advanced precision dosing systems, will significantly enhance Silcotech’s ability to process high-consistency liquid silicone materials with even greater accuracy. Each pump integrates sophisticated metering technology that allows for exact mixing ratios, reducing waste and improving repeatability in production.

“Adding these Nexus pumps to our equipment lineup is part of our ongoing strategy to stay at the forefront of LSR molding technology,” said Yogesh Chauhan, CEO at Silcotech. “Our customers demand the highest standards of precision and consistency, and investments like this ensure we can deliver on those expectations while increasing throughput and reducing cycle times.”

Environmental Benefits

Compared to traditional silicone dosing units, the new Nexus pumps deliver important environmental advantages:

• Lower Energy Consumption: Nexus pumps operate more efficiently, using less power per kilogram of material processed.
• Cleaner Production: The closed system design reduces the risk of leaks and contamination, minimizing hazardous cleanup procedures and protecting both operators and the environment.
• Optimized Container Emptying: The pumps achieve nearly complete drum evacuation, reducing residual material left in containers and lowering disposal impact.

Silcotech estimates that the improved efficiency of the Nexus pumps will contribute to a significant reduction in the company’s overall carbon footprint and align with its sustainability goals.

Silcotech North America is proud to announce the appointment of Yogesh Chauhan as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 2025. This leadership transition marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to excellence in liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding.

With over 25 years of experience in the medical and automotive sectors, Mr. Chauhan brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success. Having joined Silcotech in 2010, he has been instrumental in driving our company’s growth and innovation. In his new role, Mr. Chauhan will oversee all executive functions, including operations, design, tooling, project management, supply chain, and quality/regulatory affairs. Arburg recently hosted a multi-day, hands-on training program focusing on Scientific Molding, Robotics, Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) processing, and Gestica control systems at Silcotech’s headquarters in Bolton, ON. The session served as a valuable opportunity to deepen technical expertise across the production team.

Classroom Learning & Practical Application

The training combined classroom instruction with practical demonstrations on the shop floor, ensuring participants gained both theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The topics were covered across several sessions from March 24–27, 2025, and focused on the following core areas:

Scientific Molding & LSR Fundamentals

Participants explored the foundation of Scientific Molding and how its principles apply specifically to LSR processing.

• What is Scientific Molding and its significance in improving consistency and precision.

• Key methods used in LSR processing under the Scientific Molding approach.

• Common technical terminology used in silicone processing.

• Understanding the three key chemicals involved in LSR formulations.

LSR Equipment & Process Know-How

The training also covered critical machine-specific knowledge.

• Functionality of safety valves and integrated sensors.

• LSR-specific screw design and mold heating principles.

• Detailed explanation of check valve functionality and proper assembly procedures.

• Correct usage of tools for screw seal assembly and maintenance best practices.

Silcotech, a leader in liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding, recently celebrated a successful showcase at the MD&M West 2025 trade show, held from February 4–6 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. This premier event, marking its 40th anniversary, brought together over 1,700 exhibitors and more than 13,500 attendees from 52 countries, all converging to explore the latest innovations in medical device manufacturing.

At booth 1425, Silcotech unveiled its latest solutions in medical and pharmaceutical design and manufacturing. The company’s display highlighted cutting-edge LSR injection molding technologies, emphasizing their applications in producing high-precision, reliable medical components.
